Premium slope quality as the foundation
Reliable, consistent, and top-notch slope grooming is the foundation for a perfect day of skiing. To proactively address changing conditions and guarantee guests maximum snow reliability, Bergbahnen Sölden is implementing a comprehensive technical upgrade of its infrastructure.
Milestone at the Gaislachkogl
The snowmaking initiative is focused on the slopes of the Gaislachkogl adventure mountain at around 3,000 meters above sea level. The steep, rocky terrain and storm-like winds have, until now, required an enormous amount of effort when relying solely on natural snow. As the home of highlights such as the ice Q and 007 ELEMENTS, and as one of the most popular slopes in Sölden, this area is now being equipped with a high-performance snowmaking system.
A 3.9-kilometer-long pipeline network, 11 tower-mounted snow guns, and 38 flexible outlets will ensure coverage for approximately ten hectares of slopes in the future. At the heart of the system is the new pump station at 2,511 meters above sea level: it transports water uphill over 500 meters in elevation at a pressure of 77 bar.
Other projects in the ski resort
In addition to the major project at Gaislachkogl, other key sections of the slopes are being specifically upgraded:
- Schwarzkogl (Run 25): A field pipeline extended by 350 meters and five new snowmaking outlets ensure consistent slope quality.
- Wasserkar Valley Station: 600 meters of piping will be completely replaced and equipped with six tower-mounted snow guns.
- Tiefenbach Glacier & Mutkogl Lift: As part of the renovation, the snowmaking system here will be expanded by 250 meters, with two tower-mounted snow guns and one mobile snowmaking outlet.
