Who is behind BBS?

Are you wondering who is actually behind Bergbahnen Sölden and which departments make up our company? Here you will get an insight into our dedicated management team and the various departments that work together to make Sölden a special experience - both in winter and in summer.

Our team is committed to making your visit to us an unforgettable experience with passion, expertise and a spirit of innovation. Whether on the piste, at events or in our various business areas - our management ensures that every detail is right and that we continuously offer the best possible quality.

Management trio

For over 40 years, Managing Director Jakob Falkner together with authorised signatory DI (FH) Philipp Falkner, MBA, have been at the helm of the strategic and commercial division of Bergbahnen Sölden. The technical management is in the experienced hands of authorised signatory Ing. Helmut Kuprian, who has also been with the company for over 40 years.

Executive assistant

  • Johanna has been with the company as executive assistant since 2011 and appreciates the variety and versatility of her job.
  • She is particularly enthusiastic about mastering new challenges and seeing how guests have a great time with us.
  • She is delighted to be part of a company that takes responsibility in the region, is future-orientated and attaches great importance to customer and employee satisfaction.

Technical management

  • Michael has been the deputy technical director since 1991 and is passionate about combining alpine sports with the latest technology in a place where others come to vacation.
  • He is committed to creating the best conditions for guests from all over the world who spend their most beautiful days of the year in Sölden.
  • He especially values planning, implementing, and managing mountain leisure activities that are both ecologically and economically sustainable, while also being attractive to vacationers.

Project management

  • Eberhard has been the head of the project team since 2020 and enjoys the versatility and variety of his job, especially in a place where others come to vacation.
  • His aim is to always achieve the best for the company and its customers by implementing projects in a timely, high-quality and cost-efficient manner.
  • He particularly appreciates the innovative and collegial working environment in which everyone is actively involved.
  • Lukas has been the deputy head of the project team since 2024 and is enthusiastic about the versatility of his work - from the initial idea to the completion of extensive projects.
  • He finds working on complex projects with numerous trades such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrics and surveying particularly exciting, always with the aim of inspiring customers with new slopes and cable cars.
  • His focus is on realising projects on time, on quality and on budget, while always maintaining an overall view of construction sites and processes.

Operation management Giggijoch & Gampe

  • Lukas has been the operations manager at Giggijoch since 2014 and ensures the smooth running of operations in the ski area.
  • His goal is for every guest to have a perfect day on the slopes and leave with a smile.
  • What excites him about his job? The variety: "No day is the same, and every challenge brings new perspectives."
     
  • Patrick has been the operations manager since 2013 and appreciates the combination of nature, technology, and diverse projects – no day is the same.
  • His job allows him to pursue his passion and provide guests with unforgettable ski days.
  • Ensuring the safety of both guests and employees is especially important to him, and he achieves this by adhering to strict regulations and conducting regular maintenance of the cable cars.
  • Dominik has been the operations manager at the cable cars since 2022 and appreciates the unique combination of technology, nature, and responsibility.
  • The blend of strategic leadership, customer interaction, and hands-on problem-solving makes his job both varied and exciting.
  • He is especially motivated by creating unforgettable experiences for guests and working in a dynamic alpine environment.
  • Rainer has been the deputy operations manager since 2024 and is passionate about motivating employees, planning tasks, and actively supporting their execution.
  • He finds the unpredictable challenges of each day particularly exciting, along with the responsibility of ensuring the smooth running of daily operations.
  • In stressful situations, Rainer remains calm and is focused on finding quick solutions.
  • Marco has been the deputy operations manager since 2024 and appreciates the variety and flexibility of his job, which requires creativity and dedication.
  • He particularly enjoys working outdoors in a place where others come to vacation and takes pleasure in making many people happy.
  • His goal is to ensure that all tasks and construction projects are completed on time and with precision, allowing guests to enjoy a perfect day on the slopes.
  • Dominik has been the deputy operations manager since 2024 and appreciates the great working atmosphere, the flexible working hours and the variety in his job.
  • For him, it is above all the cooperation with the dedicated team on the mountain that makes his job special.
  • Dominik ensures that all tasks are completed on time and is always available with the right answer to any challenge.

Operation management Gaislachkogl & Glacier

  • Konstantin has been the operations manager since 2019 and appreciates the variety and working directly in his home village.
  • He ensures the safe operation of the cable cars and that guests can enjoy a perfect day in the ski area.
  • With his all-rounder mentality, he keeps cable cars operating between 1,377 m and 3,063 m above sea level and ensures that breakdowns are kept to a minimum. 
  • Markus has been the operations manager since 2008 and loves nature, variety and working on technical systems and projects.
  • Customer and employee satisfaction is his top priority, which makes his job particularly fulfilling.
  • His strength lies in his ability to coordinate all tasks flexibly and responsibly and to bring everything under one roof.
  • Josef has been the operations manager since 2022 and appreciates the varied projects, new challenges and continuous professional and personal development.
  • He finds the teamwork, the exchange of ideas and the joint achievement of goals particularly motivating, which creates an inspiring working atmosphere.
  • Its central objective is to ensure safe, efficient cable car operations that remain customer-orientated and sustainably successful in the long term.
  • Fabio has been the deputy operations manager since 2024 and is particularly enthusiastic about the versatility of his job, which presents him with new challenges every day and allows him to develop his skills creatively.
  • He particularly appreciates the team he works with and the informal working environment, which promotes the exchange of ideas and an atmosphere of trust and support.
  • His goal is to ensure the safe and orderly operation of the cable car, prioritising the safety of guests while ensuring that every customer has an unforgettable day.
  • Florian has been the deputy operations manager at the cable cars since 2024 and is enthusiastic about the diverse technical challenges and working in a breathtaking panorama.
  • The combination of a broad range of tasks that require both in-depth expertise and flexibility makes his job varied and exciting.
  • He is particularly motivated to offer guests a safe and perfect experience.

Slope

  • Manfred has been the slope manager since 1995 and appreciates the varied work that constantly presents new challenges.
  • He finds natural events particularly motivating and is driven by the goal of providing guests with a wonderful vacation.
  • He places great importance on flexibility, safety, and forward-thinking action to ensure smooth operations, even under the challenging conditions of nature and weather.
  • Dietmar has been the deputy slope manager since 2005 and loves the varied tasks in the great outdoors.
  • He particularly appreciates the quick decision-making, the responsibility and the collaboration with his great team.
  • His aim is to work with his team to continuously strengthen the company and optimise its position for the future. 

Workshop & fleet

  • Emanuel has been head of the workshop and vehicle fleet since 2020 and appreciates the variety and working with machines.
  • What makes his job unique is the opportunity to actively help shape it and regularly master new tasks.
  • He is particularly motivated by the optimisation of the vehicle fleet and the integration of the latest technology into the company.
  • Rene has been the deputy workshop manager since 2024 and is enthusiastic about the variety of technology and equipment in his company and about working with his team to solve problems.
  • He particularly appreciates working on the mountain and the variety of challenges that make every day exciting.
  • His aim is to ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly so that guests can enjoy unforgettable moments on the mountain.

Locksmithery & operative events

  • Wolfgang has been head of the metalworking shop and operational events since 1999 and is particularly enthusiastic about working with young people and encouraging them to become independent.
  • What makes his job unique is the opportunity to contribute to his hometown while working with a fantastic team.
  • The diverse tasks and projects present exciting challenges, which he and his team successfully tackle together.

Warehouse & staff flats

  • Philipp has been head of the warehouse and staff accommodation since 2022 and is particularly enthusiastic about the variety in his daily tasks and challenges.
  • What makes his job unique is the mixture of organisation, improvisation and skill that allows him to master both planned and spontaneous tasks.
  • His aim is to welcome new employees and provide optimum support for the department and operations through cost-orientated purchasing. 

IT / EDP

  • Gilbert has been the head of IT & EDP since 1985 and appreciates the responsible work, flexible working hours and the constant development of software and hardware.
  • The challenge of always staying on the ball and integrating technological innovations motivates him every day.
  • His aim is to create a stable, technical basis for the company so that employees can carry out their tasks efficiently.
  • Egon has been the deputy head of IT & EDP since 2023 and is responsible for the smooth running of the IT systems and the coordination of tasks.
  • It is particularly important to him that the system always runs smoothly, which both challenges and motivates him.
  • His focus is on network and system security to ensure stable and secure operation.

Cash desk management

  • Viktoria has been the cashier manager since 2011 and is particularly enthusiastic about her young and dynamic team.
  • What makes her job unique is the daily variety of tasks and challenges that she masters together with great commitment and team spirit.
  • It is particularly important to her to ensure a smooth process at the cash desks and to always offer a high level of service.
  • Stefan has been the deputy cashier manager since 2024 and particularly appreciates the daily challenges and the great working atmosphere.
  • Working with customers and constantly striving for improvement in his dealings with them motivates him to continuously develop himself further.
  • He ensures that all processes run smoothly in order to offer guests an outstanding service.

Marketing

  • Jakob has been the marketing director at BBS since 2007 and values the variety and excitement that each new project brings.
  • He seamlessly integrates his work with personal interests, which motivates him to take independent responsibility for the company's positive development.
  • He sees challenges and changes as opportunities for both professional and personal growth.

Sales

  • Gregor has been head of sales since 2024 and highly values engaging with people from different cultures and the opportunity to sell a unique portfolio.
  • The extensive travel and exposure to diverse cultures make his job particularly exciting and dynamic.
  • His goal is to establish the Ötztal region, especially Sölden, as a globally recognized destination and successfully market the largest portfolio in the industry.

Accounting & Controlling

  • Mariska has been the head of accounting & controlling since 2017 and particularly appreciates the teamwork and the diverse range of tasks, from gastronomy to the cable car.
  • She is proud to be part of an innovative local company that is constantly progressing and is one of the leading cable car companies in the Alpine region.
  • Her aim is to deliver a top performance in the area of accounting and to build up a strong professional team that will meet future requirements.
  • Sabrina has been the deputy head of accounting & controlling since 2023 and appreciates the varied work and the constant opportunities for further training.
  • She is particularly motivated by the wide range of tasks that arise from the different areas of the company (cable car/ gastronomy).
  • Her focus is on contributing to the long-term success of BBS through their precise working methods and expertise. 

Employee management & payroll accounting

  • Astrid has been the head of employee management & payroll accounting since 2013 and particularly appreciates the versatility of her job.
  • What makes her job unique is the combination of commercial tasks and personal support for managers and employees, which enables her to master new challenges every day.
  • Her aim is to ensure correct and legally compliant payroll accounting and to act as a reliable service partner for everyone in the company.
