Connection creates the future

The planned connection between slopes 7 and 22 in Sölden is an example of how targeted measures can sustainably enhance the quality of a ski resort for customers. In the future, skiers will be able to access all four major valley points (Gaislachkogl Valley, Sölden Center, Postplatz Sölden, Giggijoch Valley) directly by ski, making it faster and more comfortable. This will reduce local traffic in Sölden.

At the same time, steep sections in the valley runs for less experienced skiers will be eliminated, particularly in a section of slope 7, as well as by bypassing the steepest part of slope 22. Thus, winter sports enthusiasts will enjoy a continuous blue slope from Hochsölden to Grünwald, and the ski junction will form a cohesive ski area close to the valley. This will offer a valuable alternative, especially during storm gusts in higher regions or if connecting lifts are out of operation. Additionally, without the need for extra lift facilities, the usable ski slope area will be increased.

What makes the slope connection so special?

  • Direct connection to all four main valley points
  • No additional ski bus service if connecting lifts or main feeder lines are cancelled (e.g. due to wind)
  • Steep sections of valley runs 7 and 22 can be bypassed
  • On days with wind problems at the higher cable cars, the new slopes connect the four existing valley runs of the Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch cable cars to form a small ski area
  • Faster evacuation of the ski area
  • Additional slope area
  • Potential for year-round use such as bike trails
