For 15 years, the old logo with the mountain and stylised gondola accompanied the Bergbahnen Sölden graphic design. Even though it was not easy to say goodbye to it, the new version with the striking letters reminiscent of signposts was created. Contemporary, clear, reduced, but also self-confident and memorable. The idea is based on the comprehensive service portfolio of Bergbahnen Sölden, which has long offered far more than ‘just’ transport between the mountain and the valley. As a company, the mountain lifts point the way to a unique experience in the midst of Alpine nature. This metaphor inspired the new logo.
Black & white are the new red & blue
The story behind the new design
The desire for a new, contemporary logo first arose in 2021, when modern buildings such as the ice Q, 007 Elements and the Giggijochbahn no longer fitted in with the lift cabins, some of which were outdated. As the redesign was a challenging task, the Innsbruck-based design agency ICARUS was called in as a specialist. In collaboration with long-standing partner and architect Johann Obermoser, three designs were finally created and presented to the management in spring 2022.
Contemporary, clear & memorable
The signpost symbolism reflects the company's new aesthetic orientation. Our comprehensive service portfolio goes far beyond transport between mountain and valley. We point the way to a unique experience in the midst of alpine nature. This metaphor, inspired by the well-known orientation system on the mountain, led to the new logo: the letters BBS are depicted as signpost arrows.
‘The approach to the future modernisation of our buildings in the ski area also resulted in a need to change the logo.’
Philipp Falkner, authorised signatory Bergbahnen Sölden
